DEI vs Meritocracy

It seems like no one cares about meritocracy as they advocate for equality and equity and other nonsense “woke” words. What about when these critics of merit are boarding an airplane? Do they care about meritocracy when their pilot is chosen? Or do they think it is reasonable for a pilot to be chosen based on an arbitrary factor like how the pilot identifies versus how good of a pilot they are?

What about when a loved one needs a very serious medical procedure? Do these critics care about meritocracy when a surgeon is being selected for their child? Or do they want the surgeon chosen based on DEI, with no telling how well they can do their job?

It is absolutely criminally insane to think that anything other than merit should be considered when we are discussing voluntary exchange between what are supposed to be sovereign human beings.
