Where Is The Love?

I have previously asked in all things, is it love or not love?

I have previously written about the profound mistake in conflating race with nationality or ethnicity. In reality there is no such thing as a “white” or “black” person no matter what anyone says. I can very easily refute any definition anyone gives using reason & facts. If you would like to discuss and understand why these divisive terms are archaic, feel free to at me any time or read more of my thoughts here!

Listening to my Wake Up! playlist recently this lyric from the Black Eyed Peas hit me in a profound way because each line speaks to something I have written about:

If you only have love for your own race

Then you only leave space to discriminate

And to discriminate only generates hate

And when you hate then you’re bound to get irate

As if that is not profound enough, the song, which is an indictment on divisiveness & racism (from 20 years ago!), ends with lyrics that hit chillingly close to home for me. I am not immune to stress and feelings of sadness, anxiousness and more. This song helps me remember to keep my faith – love will be found.

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I’m gettin’ older, y’all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin’
Selfishness got us followin’ the wrong direction

Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema

Yo’, whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity

That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ down
There’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found
