The uproar at the 2011 master over Tara Sullivan being denied access to the locker room is laughable for a few reasons.
First, it is mens locker room. A place where men get naked, shower, shit and walk around with their penises hanging out. (Believe me, I hate the fact that this is tolerable – my health club is the worst!) However, this is a fact and it should be no surprise to anyone that women walking around here (even to “work”) is laughable. Are there female locker room attendants? Now that would be a good idea!
The main reason the whole “female interviewing in the mens room” is laughable is because it is a “way its been” kind of thinking. In the old days, reporters got the “scoop” in the locker room right after the game.
Who cares?! This isn’t the old days! This is 2011 where bloggers and anyone with a smart phone can get the “scoop” whenever they want.
How about nixing the idiotic idea of anyone interviewing anyone in any locker room – and simply use our “2011 brains” to figure out a better way – say a gender neutral interview room ?!
Alternatively, you we can open up the women’s locker rooms to all employees, regardless of gender, so men can interview WNBA stars like Maya Moore as she undresses. Or how about the LPGA’s Natalie Gulbis?!
Hmm… Maybe I’m onto something.
